Makes 4 Servings
1 cup white rice (jasmine or long grain)
1 cup water
½ tsp salt (optional)
1 tsp olive oil (optional, adds flavor and prevents sticking)
Rinse the rice under cold water using a mesh strainer until the water runs clear. This removes excess starch, making the rice fluffier.
Add the rinsed rice, water, salt, and oil (if using) to the Instant Pot.
Close the lid and set the valve to Sealing. Select Pressure Cook (or Manual) on High for:
4 minutes (for firmer rice)
5 minutes (for softer rice)
Let pressure release naturally for 10 minutes. Then switch to Venting to release any remaining pressure.
Fluff the rice with a fork and serve!
Store cooked rice in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Reheat with a splash of water to restore fluffiness.
